Nova Scotia’s provincial parks are opening for the season this Victoria Day weekend, with most day-use areas and campgrounds welcoming visitors starting Friday, May 15. The remaining parks will open by June 5.
This marks the start of another busy season in the province’s parks system, which sees more than a million visitors each year, with camping continuing to grow in popularity.
This year, $9.5 million is being invested in improvements across the system, including upgrades to campsites, washrooms, roads, parking areas, and trails. Visitors can expect enhanced amenities at parks such as Blomidon, Dollar Lake, and Martinique Beach.
A few reminders for the season:
No campfires or smoking in day-use parks or beaches
Campfire rules and daily BurnSafe restrictions apply in camping parks
Gas stoves and charcoal BBQs are allowed when used safely
Alcohol and cannabis are not permitted in day-use parks
Take precautions against ticks when enjoying the outdoors
