MLA Rick Burns: Supporting Families Rebuilding from Wildfires
in Upper Tantallon and Hammonds Plains
HAMMONDS PLAINS-LUCASVILLE – The Houston government is taking action to support families affected by the 2023 wildfires, helping residents as they rebuild their homes that were destroyed in Upper Tantallon and Hammonds Plains.
On Friday, January 10, the PC government announced that residents whose properties are rebuilt substantially similar to its pre-wildfire condition will not have an increase in the capped assessed value.
“While speaking with residents in Upper Tantallon and Hammonds Plains during the election, I heard firsthand about the financial stress they felt while rebuilding their homes,” said Hammonds Plains-Lucasville MLA Rick Burns. “Now, families can feel reassured knowing their capped assessed value will remain unchanged for their property, providing them with much-needed comfort and support.”
The amendments made to the Residential and Resource Property Taxation Assessment Regulations are now in effect and will be reflected on 2025 property assessment notices.
