MLA Rick Burns Appointed Vice Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources
HAMMONDS PLAINS-LUCASVILLE – The Nova Scotia Legislature has appointed Hammonds Plains-Lucasville MLA Rick Burns as Vice Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Resources. This committee plays a key role in addressing early childhood development, labour, and education issues across the province. It also reviews and approves appointments to provincial agencies, boards, and commissions.
“I am honoured to serve as Vice Chair of the Human Resources Committee,” said MLA Rick Burns. “This committee is responsible for critical areas that impact families and workers in our communities, and I look forward to ensuring Nova Scotians’ voices are heard in these important discussions.”
The committee meets monthly to consider policies and appointments that shape the province’s workforce and education systems. Burns’ appointment reflects his commitment to supporting opportunities for residents in Hammonds Plains-Lucasville and across Nova Scotia.
Additionally, MLA Burns has been named a member of the Law Amendments Committee, which reviews public bills and hears feedback from Nova Scotians before legislation is finalized.
“Ensuring transparency and accountability in the legislative process is crucial,” said Burns. “Serving on the Law Amendments Committee allows me to work directly with residents, organizations, and stakeholders to improve the laws that govern our province.”
The Law Amendments Committee meets after the second reading of public bills, providing an opportunity for Nova Scotians to share their perspectives before final decisions are made. Meetings are broadcast live on Legislative Television and available online.
