This February, Nova Scotia marks African Heritage Month with the theme “Strength in Unity: Moving Forward with Purpose, Prosperity, Power and Progress.”

The month recognizes the achievements and resilience of African Nova Scotians, who have shaped the province for over 400 years, and features events and activities to foster education and connection.

Premier Tim Houston notes, “African Heritage Month is an opportunity for all Nova Scotians to deepen their understanding of history and celebrate the enduring contributions of African Nova Scotians and people of African descent.”

The celebration kicked off January 27 at the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia in Cherry Brook. Watch the launch: https://www.youtube.com/live/eaoVhFSShqc

As Minister Twila Grosse says, unity has always strengthened African Nova Scotians, helping them overcome challenges and build a future where their culture and leadership are recognized province-wide.
