Important update for Nova Scotians on COVID-19 vaccination.
Starting March 24, individuals at highest risk of severe illness can now book an additional COVID-19 vaccine dose, as long as it has been at least three months since their last dose or known infection.
This follows guidance from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization and helps ensure those most vulnerable continue to have strong protection.
Those eligible for a spring dose include:
• People aged 80 and older
• Adult residents of long-term care or other senior congregate living settings
• Individuals six months and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised
Additional groups who may also receive a spring dose include:
• Adults aged 65 to 79
• People 50 and older who identify as Black, African Nova Scotian, or First Nations
The spring dose will be available until June 30.
If you did not receive a vaccine this past fall or winter, you can still get vaccinated. Anyone who has never received a COVID-19 vaccine is also encouraged to do so.
Appointments can be booked online or through your primary healthcare provider. If you need assistance booking, you can call 1-833-797-7772, seven days a week.
Vaccination remains one of the best ways to protect yourself and those around you. Staying up to date helps reduce the risk of severe illness and keeps our communities safer.
