Recently, a constituent, who is a veteran, reached out to my MLA office for assistance. I am always happy to support the people of our community, but I was completely surprised to come into my office one evening and find a beautiful “Support Our Troops” plaque and keychain waiting on my desk as a thank you.

These stunning pieces were crafted by Valour Woodworks, a business owned by the veteran we had assisted. Their mission is incredible: creating lasting memories through personalized laser-engraved plaques and keychains, which they generously gift free of charge to injured veterans and those who selflessly serve their communities.

This thoughtful gesture hit close to home. As someone whose family includes veterans, I’ve grown up with a deep respect and admiration for those who fought for our freedom. It is that same respect that makes it such an honor to serve as Chair of the Hammonds Plains Remembrance Day ceremony, and most recently, to present UN Peacekeeper Certificates of Recognition to Canadians who devoted themselves to restoring peace and freedom in regions facing turmoil.

In a wonderful full-circle moment, I have a UN Peacekeeper Certificate for this very veteran, and I look forward to presenting it to him soon.

Until then, I can assure you his beautiful plaque is deeply appreciated and will be proudly displayed in a prominent spot in my office.

Thank you to Valour Woodworks for your kindness and thank you to all who serve.
