On April 18 and 19, we pause to remember the lives lost in the Portapique tragedy. It remains one of the darkest moments in Nova Scotia’s history. Over the course of 13 devastating hours in 2020, 23 innocent lives were lost far too soon, leaving families, friends, and communities forever changed.
Today, and every year, we honour their memory with quiet reflection and deep respect. We stand with the survivors, the loved ones who continue to carry unimaginable loss, and all those across our province who were impacted by this tragedy.
Their lives will not be forgotten. Their memory lives on in the hearts of Nova Scotians, in our collective resolve, and in our commitment to compassion, safety, and community.
