Today, I joined Mayor Fillmore and residents for a drive through Hammonds Plains-Lucasville.

We discussed concerns about emergency access, evacuation routes, and what continued growth means for an area where community connector roads have not kept pace with development.

As more families choose to call this area home, we need to make sure roads and emergency access keep up.

Regional Council will discuss these issues tomorrow. The Regional Subdivision Connectivity Review going before Council ranks a large portion of Hammonds Plains-Lucasville as #2 and #3 out of 362 communities assessed across HRM for connectivity and egress risk.

Safety, egress, and connectivity here have been my focus, and the best decisions get made when we listen and work together. I’ll keep working with municipal and provincial partners to move this forward.
