More families in Halifax now have access to safe, stable supportive housing.
Six new family units have been added to The Rose, a supportive housing community operated by Adsum for Women & Children, increasing capacity from 18 to 24 families. That’s up to 90 people, most of them children, who now have a place to call home.
The Rose offers fully furnished two- and four-bedroom apartments with accessible design, in-unit amenities, and shared spaces for families, including play areas, laundry rooms, and an outdoor playground. More importantly, residents have access to on-site, wraparound supports that help families stabilize, rebuild, and move toward long-term independence.
This expansion is part of ongoing work to address homelessness in our communities. Over the past year, the number of people staying in provincially funded hotel rooms has dropped by 86 per cent, and initiatives like The Rose are helping make that progress possible.
The Province has invested $1.2 million in The Rose to date, with continued funding committed to supportive housing and homelessness services across Nova Scotia.
Strong partnerships with organizations like Adsum for Women & Children are making a real difference for families when they need it most.
