The Heating Assistance Rebate Program (HARP) helps low-income Nova Scotians with the cost of home heating. Often referred to as the “Nova Scotia heating rebate,” eligible applicants receive a rebate to help with winter bills

The heating assistance rebate program helps low‑ and modest‑income Nova Scotians with the cost of home heating.
Rebate Amount: $400 per household
Application Period: October 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026
How to Apply: Online at novascotia.ca/heatinghelp or via paper form available from my office and at Access Nova Scotia centres
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must pay for your own heating costs (oil, electricity, wood, propane, etc.) and meet the following income criteria based on your 2024 Net Income:
Single-person households: Net income of $30,000 or less.
Families (2+ people): Combined net household income of $45,000 or less
Note: If your financial situation has changed significantly since your 2024 tax filing, you may still qualify. Contact Service Nova Scotia to discuss your situation.
Rebate Status & Timeline
2025–26 applications: OPEN (deadline: March 31, 2026)
Payment timing: Funds issued 8 to 10 weeks after application deadline
