Seniors Care Grant applications are now open

If you’re a Nova Scotia senior, or have a parent, grandparent, neighbour, or friend who may qualify, now is the time to apply for the 2026/27 Seniors Care Grant.

Eligible seniors can receive up to $750 to help with essential costs that support them in remaining safely and independently in their homes and communities.

The grant can help with eligible expenses including:

• Home heating
• Home maintenance and small repairs
• Cleaning and meal preparation or delivery
• Transportation
• Communication costs
• Medication delivery
• Eligible health-care services

Who can apply?

You may be eligible if you:
• Are 65 or older by March 31, 2027
• Have a total household income of $45,100 or less
• Meet the other program requirements
• Submit your application by December 1, 2026

Applications are open September 1 through December 1, 2026. The application period is shorter this year, so don’t wait until the new year to apply.

More than 173,000 Seniors Care Grants have been approved since the program was introduced in 2021, providing meaningful support to seniors across Nova Scotia.

If you’re unsure whether you qualify, we encourage you to look into the program and apply if you meet the requirements. Our constituency office is also available to help eligible residents navigate the application process.
