Nova Scotia is taking another important step toward providing more choice and independence for people with disabilities through the HomeShare program.
Ten community-based organizations across the province are now reviewing applications and helping connect participants with HomeShare providers. These organizations will recruit and screen providers, facilitate matches, and provide ongoing support to ensure safe and successful shared living arrangements.
HomeShare is designed to help people with disabilities live where and how they choose, while fostering meaningful community connections and personalized support. By building on local knowledge and trusted relationships, the program aims to create flexible living options that reflect the unique needs and strengths of communities across Nova Scotia.
This initiative is part of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Remedy, a five-year commitment to address systemic discrimination and improve supports for people with disabilities across the province.
