May is a time of renewal and a great reminder to take care of our mental and physical well-being. During Mental Health Week and throughout the month, small steps like pausing to breathe, adding a fruit or vegetable to your day, or getting out for a walk can make a real difference.
The Community Health Teams are offering a wide range of free programs this May to support individuals and families, including:
• Mental wellness programs like Optimal Aging, Exploring Emotions, stress management, and assertive communication
• Health education sessions on prediabetes, heart health, and perimenopause
• Healthy eating workshops on food labels, budgeting, meal planning, and gut health
• Physical activity sessions focused on movement, balance, and exercise basics
• Parenting and youth sessions covering anxiety, behaviour, screen time, and communication
Programs are available across the Halifax region, with both in-person and online options.
