Good news for Upper Hammonds Plains this morning.
Today I announced $199,000 from our PC Government, through the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
The Upper Hammonds Plains Community Land Trust were successful in their application to the Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund with a plan to reduce wildfire risk across the community.
The work protects historical homesteads, the community centre, the church, and the new housing going in.
This is a competitive fund. Curtis and his team identified the risk, built the proposal, and made the case for it. That is why this project is going ahead.
Congratulations to the whole team.
If your community group has a project in mind, my office is happy to help you find the right program and get an application together.
