I’m pleased to share the return of the Memory Café in Tantallon, a wonderful community program for people living with dementia and their care partners.

For many people living with dementia, and for those who provide care, staying socially connected can sometimes become a challenge. Memory Café offers a welcoming and supportive place to spend an afternoon together, with live music, art, conversation, warm drinks, and homemade snacks.

The Tantallon Memory Café has been running successfully for three years, creating opportunities for people to connect, have fun, and simply enjoy time together. One care partner shared that they had not seen their partner so engaged in a long time – an amazingreflection of the impact these gatherings can have.

Tantallon is one of 19 communities across Nova Scotia hosting a Memory Café. The local café has also been fortunate to receive additional support from community organizations, including Bay Treasure Chest and The Anglican Parish of French Village, allowing the Tantallon program to offer more gatherings than the five supported through Memory Café NS funding.

Thank you to everyone who works to make this program possible and to create a more connected and welcoming community for people living with dementia and their care partners.
