Apr 29, 2026

It was a solemn morning as I stood in remembrance alongside my colleagues, honouring the lives of all workers we have lost across Nova Scotia.

On this National Day of Mourning, we pause not only to remember, but to reflect on the deep responsibility we all share to ensure safer workplaces. Behind every name is a family, a story, and a loss that is felt deeply in our communities.

Last year alone, 22 Nova Scotians lost their lives at work or because of their work. Every single workplace death is an unimaginable loss.

Today is about standing together with workers, with families, and with those who continue to carry the weight of these losses. Let us use this day to renew our commitment to ensuring that everyone returns home safely at the end of their workday.
